We're Better at Building Boat VentsĀ® Than Naming Them

Around here, we tend to keep things pretty straightforward. If it's our fourth-generation boat vent, we call it Boat VentĀ® 4. Simple enough. We would rather invest our time in engineering stronger, better-performing products than brainstorming trendy names. And for more than two decades, that approach has helped make Vico Marine vents a trusted choice for canvas shops, dealers, and boat owners across the industry.

So instead of telling you about the name, let us tell you about the vent.

Why ventilation matters under a boat cover

A closed cover traps warm, moist air against your seats, carpet, and electronics through the whole storage season. A vent gives that air a way out. Better airflow under the cover helps reduce trapped moisture and the musty smell that comes with it, which helps protect the interior you worked hard to keep nice.

A sew-in vent built for the bench

The Boat VentĀ® 4 is a sew-in vent designed for professional installation. It is built to go into a canvas boat cover cleanly and hold up to the outdoors once it is there. If you run a canvas shop or build covers for a living, it is made to save you time on the bench without giving up durability.

Here is what we put the work into.

Easy to sew in

A vent that fights you on the bench costs you time on every cover. The Boat VentĀ® 4 is built to go in fast.

  • Larger flange sews in easily, with no need to disassemble and reassemble
  • Lead-in threads easily into the cut hole
  • Designed to be sewn in for a secure fit
  • Installs with or without a reinforcement piece

The lead-in is the part installers tend to notice first. It threads right into the cut hole, so you spend less time fussing with placement and more time sewing.

Built to perform

Easy to install does not mean much if the vent does not do its job once the cover is on the boat.

  • Enhanced venting area, equal to the Boat VentĀ® 3
  • Flatter profile that holds up well to Trailering
  • Soft, durable TPE/PP blend with a UV inhibitor
  • Available in matte black finish

The flatter profile is worth calling out for anyone covering a boat that gets towed. It sits lower against the cover, which makes it a practical choice for trailering.

Pairing the Boat VentĀ® 4 with a support pole

The Boat VentĀ® 4 is designed to be used with a support pole. The inside hole fits a 3/4" support pole. Vico Marine support poles are the perfect match, available with a smooth plug tip, or for a more secure fit, we recommend our spline tip pole.

Using the vent with a pole lets the cover tent properly so air can move underneath, which is the whole point of venting a covered boat in the first place.
